Marga: ‘For five months we were in the same space. … spent more time with my children (29, 26, 24, 22), living together, since they were little.’

‘Hotel du Louvre, only breakfast in your room, no restaurants open, only supermarkets.’

Marga is a Spanish, working mother in her 50s. She is divorced and over the past five years she has lived with her four grown up children in a rented, three bedroom flat in EC2. During lockdown 1, she loved spending precious time at home as a family, but five adults congregating in their small living room inevitably led to wear and tear of her vintage furniture; ‘the original fabric from 1946 ... did not resist 5 months of lockdown using it 24/7!’ Having to travel abroad for her work has been very challenging during the pandemic. There were the logistics of booking cabs and compiling the necessary documentation to make it through the strict border controls, but she especially expressed her shock at how incredibly expensive multiple PCR tests she had to take - a receipt from May 2020 shows that she paid £200 for tests to travel to Paris.
