Over the past two years, researchers at the Disobedient Buildings project at the University of Oxford have studied how people today experience everyday life in ageing blocks of flats. Ageing buildings can be disobedient: new residents move in, materials decay and the neighbourhood changes over time. In Oslo the Disobedient Buildings team collaborated with the Van Etten Gallery and sound artist Jiska Huizing to produce an exhibition that explores this disobedience sonically. Through a site-specific sound walk, Huizing zoomed in on where disobedient sounds might take us - inside, behind the doors, up the high-rise, beneath the surface.

I to år har en gruppe forskere på prosjektet Disobedient Buildings ved universitetet i Oxford undersøkt hvordan folk i dag opplever å bo i boligblokker som eldes. Når bygninger eldes, kan de bli ulydige. Nye beboere flytter inn, materialer ruster og nabolaget forandrer seg. I har Olso har forskerne samarbeidet Van Etten Gallery og lydkunstner Jiska Huizing for å lage et verk som utforsker det ulydige med lyd. Huizings stedspesifikt lydverk tar den besøkende med på en vandring, hvor lyden fører oss inn bak dører, opp i etasjene, eller under jorden.

În ultimii doi ani cercetători din proiectul Disobedient Buildings de la Universitatea din Oxford au studiat cum trăiesc oamenii viața de zi cu zi în blocurile care îmbătrânesc. Clădirile care îmbătrânesc pot fi „neascultătoare” (disobedient): noi locatari se mută în ele, materialele se degradează și cartierul se transformă în timp. În Oslo, echipa Disobedient Buildings au colaborat cu Van Etten Gallery și artista de sunet Jiska Huizing pentru realizarea unei expoziție care ilustrează această „neascultare” din punct de vedere sonic. Printr-o plimbare de sunet specifică blocului, Huizing s-a concentrat pe zonele unde sunetele ne conduc - înăuntru și în afara ușilor, sus până la ultimul etaj al blocului, sau în subsol, sub suprafața pământului

ULYDIGE BYGG (DISOBEDIENT BUILDINGS) was a site-specific sound work and exhibition held at Van Etten Gallery, Oslo between 12.11.21 and 28.11.21. It was a collaboration between Disobedient Buildings, Jiska Huizing and Van Etten Gallery.  We also held a series of seminars across November 2021 including:

A conversation between Audun Kjus (Norsk Folkemuseum) and Anna Ulrikke Andersen (Disobedient Buildings); Ulydige bygg: lyd og sted. (Disobedient buildings: sound and place) A conversation between Jiska Huizing and Trond Lossius (Den Norske Filmskolen/ Griegakademiet); Disobedient Buildings: Disobedient Sounds. A conversation between Disobedient Building’s researchers Inge Daniels, Gabriela Nicolescu and Anna Ulrikke Andersen; and a performance by Jiska Huizing.

ULYDIGE BYGG er et stedsspesifikt lydverk og utstilling ved Van Etten Gallery mellom 12.11.21 og 28.11.21. Det er et samarbeid mellom Disobedient Buildings, Jiska Huizing og Van Etten Gallery. I løpet av november 2021 arrangerte vi følgende seminarrekke:
